Maha and Miria

As IT Project Managers, Maha and Miria are responsible for hardware and software procurement, identifying hardware and software requirements and building and testing innovative software applications to support Departmental function programs. This often means acting as liaisons between the Department and systems integrators and consultants.

Maha and Miria both began their careers at the Department of National Defence as students in an IT education program that balanced traditional classroom learning and on the job training. They gained valuable knowledge and experience through the Department. Miria recalls, "I had no practical IT work experience, but I learned an incredible amount during the 8 month work term."

They enjoy working for the Department of National Defence for the interesting work and the camaraderie with co-workers. Both agree that the size of the department lends itself to career opportunities and advancement. Maha states, "I have never felt the need to leave the Department for other opportunities, it has been easy to progress in this organization."
